GLAD dances with the Local Stars!

Carefree Medical hosted their 13th Annual Dancing with the Local Stars Event this past Friday! Three of our own dance instructors/dancers participated in the competition and helped raise donations that go toward providing health care to under-insured and uninsured adults and children from across Metro Lansing. Congratulations to all the participants!

GLBC at Bluesfest!

Congratulations to all Company dancers who performed at the Lansing BluesFest on September 20th & 21st!

Members from GLBC performed a 30-minute segment on Saturday. Additionally, Senior Company dancers performed on Friday and Saturday evenings in front of Lansing based blues bands.

Why does exercise make us feel good?

Ever wonder why you may feel so relaxed and pleasant after a good workout? It’s all thanks to a magical mix of science and sweat! When you exercise, your body releases endorphins—those delightful little hormones that act like nature’s happy pills. They help reduce stress, improve your mood, and bring a sense of clarity to your day. Moving your muscles increases blood flow and oxygen to your brain, sharpening your focus and boosting your creativity. And let’s not forget the sense of accomplishment that comes with achieving your fitness goals! So, whether you're busting a move in a dance class or powering through a jog, remember: every step you take or jete you jump, is a step toward feeling fabulous!

Getting to Know Dance!

Did you know that ballets in the 15th and 16th century used to be HOURS long. Not one, two, or three hours as some ballets present themselves today, but up to 15 hours long!!!

King Louis XIV, the Sun King, first performed in a ballet called the “Royal Ballet of the Night”, which was 12 hours long! From 6pm to 6am, music kept playing and dancers kept dancing. King Louis XIV’s role in the ballet “Royal Ballet of the Night” was one of the reasons he became known as The Sun King for his portrayal of Apollo, the Greek God.
